In response to media enquiries, the Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Mr Raymond Tam, noted today (June 21) that the Government understands that the Democratic Party's "one-person-two-votes" proposal is crucial to its stance on the 2012 constitutional reform package. On electoral arrangements beyond 2012, we understand that the Democratic Party has not abandoned its stances and principles, including those on the abolition of the functional constituencies and the implementation of universal suffrage for the elections of the Chief Executive and the Legislative Council. We respect their position.
