Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, at the meet-the-media session after the televised debate on constitutional reform package tonight (June 17):

Chief Executive: The most important thing is, as I have said, that there is no question of accusation at all. I am here to debate an issue of paramount importance to Hong Kong, and that is, we must continue the progress and roll forward democracy in year 2012. There is a very reasonable and very good package on the table that we must get it passed by the Legislative Council. And most important of all, the purpose of this debate is not only to explain the package but also to introduce a new political culture into Hong Kong to make the Chief Executive to be accountable to the public and explain the issue in a more public manner. I think I have achieved that. The real success story here is that Hong Kong has succeeded. Thank you very much.
