Special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island this Saturday

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements on Saturday (June 19) to facilitate a public procession to be held on Hong Kong Island.

(A) Road closure

Phase I

The following road closures will be implemented from 2pm and as necessary:

1. Gloucester Road U-turn loop underneath Tai Hang Road Flyover to Sugar Street;
2. Sugar Street;
3. Great George Street;
4. A section of Paterson Street between Kingston Street and Great George Street;
5. A section of westbound Kingston Street between Gloucester Road and Paterson Street;
6. A section of southbound Gloucester Road between Victoria Park Flyover and Causeway Road;
7. Yacht Street;
8. A section of Lau Li Street between Ngan Mok Street and Hing Fat Street;
9. A section of Electric Road between Lau Sin Street and Tsing Fung Street;
10. A section of Lau Sin Street between the cul-de-sac outside Park Tower and Hing Fat Street; and
11. A section of Hing Fat Street between Causeway Road and Lau Sin Street.

Phase II

The following road closures will be implemented from 5pm:

1. Jardines Bazaar;
2) A section of Lee Garden Road between Kai Chiu Road and Hennessy Road;
3) Kai Chiu Road;
4) A section of Yun Ping Road between Pak Sha Road and Kai Chiu Road;
5) Tang Lung Street; and
6) A section of Canal Road East between Russell Street and Hennessy Road.

Phase III

The following road closures will be implemented from 5.15pm:

1) Westbound Causeway Road;
2) Moreton Terrace;
3) Shelter Street;
4) Slip road leading from eastbound Yee Wo Street to Leighton Road;
5) Irving Street;
6) The left most lane on a section of Pennington Street between Jardines Bazaar and Yee Wo Street;
7) Westbound Yee Wo Street;
8) A section of Percival Street between Lockhart Road and Hennessy Road; and
9) A section of westbound Hennessy Road between Yee Wo Street and Canal Road East.

(B) Traffic diversion

Phase I

The following traffic arrangements will be implemented from 2pm and as necessary:

1) Traffic along eastbound Yee Wo Street is not allowed to turn left to Sugar Street;
2) Traffic along southbound Gloucester Road is not allowed to make u-turn to northbound Gloucester Road underneath Tai Hang Road Flyover;
3) Traffic along northbound Gloucester Road is not allowed to turn left to westbound Kingston Street;
4) Traffic along northbound Tai Hang Road Flyover is not allowed to turn left to westbound Kingston Street;
5) Traffic along southbound Paterson Street must turn left to eastbound Kingston Street;
6) Traffic along southbound Cleveland Street must turn left to eastbound Kingston Street;
7) Traffic along southbound Electric Road must turn left to eastbound Wing Hing Street;
8) Traffic travelling from Victoria Park Road to eastbound Wing Hing Street is not allowed to turn right to southbound Electric Road;
9) Traffic along westbound Tsing Fung St is not allowed to turn left to southbound Electric Road; and
10) Traffic along northbound Hing Fat Street is not allowed to turn right to eastbound Lau Li Street.

Phase II

The following traffic arrangements will be implemented from 5pm:

1) Traffic along Irving Street is not allowed to enter Jardines Bazaar;
2) Traffic along northbound Pennington Street is not allowed to turn left to Jardines Bazaar;
3) Traffic along Yun Ping Road must turn left to Pak Sha Road;
4) Traffic along Pak Sha Road is not allowed to turn right to Lee Garden Road;
5) Traffic along westbound Hennessy Road will not be allowed to turn left to southbound Canal Road East; and
6) Traffic along westbound Russell Street is not allowed to turn right to Canal Road East.

Phase III

The following traffic arrangements will be implemented from 5.15pm:

1) Traffic along eastbound Tung Lo Wan Road is not allowed to turn left to Moreton Terrance;
2) Traffic along eastbound Yee Wo Street is not allowed to turn right to southbound Leighton Road;
3) Traffic along northbound Pennington Street must turn right to eastbound Yee Wo Street;
4) Traffic along Lockhart Road is not allowed to turn right to northbound Percival Street; and
5) Traffic along westbound King's Road must turn right to southbound Tung Lo Wan Road or turn right to northbound Hing Fat Street.

(C) Suspension of bus stops, public light bus stands and taxi stands

1. All bus stops along the closed roads will be suspended from 5.15pm until the crowd has dispersed and the services have returned to normal.

2. Subject to the crowd situation, if Hing Fat Street and its vicinity are closed, all bus stops and the green minibus terminus underneath Park Tower will be suspended from 2pm until the crowd has dispersed and the areas returns to a normal condition.

3. All public light bus stands and taxi stands, include pick-up and drop-off points, along the closed roads will be suspended from 5pm until the crowd has dispersed and the area returns to a normal condition.

(D) Suspension of on street parking space

The metered parking spaces at Hing Fat Street will be suspended from noon, except the disabled parking spaces.

(E) Suspension of carparks

Due to the above traffic arrangements, vehicles will not be allowed to enter or leave the following car parks from 2pm until the crowd has dispersed and the area returns to a normal condition.

a) 310 Gloucester Road (entrance at Great George Street);
b) 311 Gloucester Road (entrance at Great George Street);
c) 2 Paterson Street (entrance at Great George Street);
d) 1 King's Road;
e) 40 Hing Fat Street;
f) 9 Moreton Terrace;
g) Central Library, 66 Causeway Road;
h) 88 Yee Wo Street;
i) 18-30 Irving Street;
j) Carpark on Keswick Street; and
k) On Lok Lane.

(F) Suspension of tram stops

Tram stops on Causeway Road and Yee Wo Street in both dircetions will be suspended from 5.30pm until the crowd has dispersed.

     Vehicles parked illegally will be towed away without prior warning. Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience and follow the instructions of Police at the scene.
