Customs arrests ketamine courier in Lowu Control Point (with photo)

     Customs officers today (June 11) in Lowu Control Point arrested a 46-year-old man suspected of trafficking in 1,007 grammes of ketamine, with an estimated street value of $120,000.

     Customs officers intercepted the man at Lowu Control Point and found one packet of ketamine beneath the underpants that he was wearing, weighing at a total of 1,007 grammes.  He was then charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug.  He will appear at the Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (June 12).

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, Chapter 134, Laws of Hong Kong, drug trafficking is a serious offence which is liable to a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
