The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) raided an unlicensed food factory in Tsoi Yuen Tsuen, Wang Toi Shan, Yuen Long today (June 11) and seized about 150 kg of rice dumplings and 24 kg food ingredients, including glutinous rice and pork.
A woman was arrested in the operation and charged with operating a food factory business without a licence.
Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.
"We will continue to take stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food business to safeguard food safety and public health," an FEHD spokesman said.
People should report such illegal activities through the 1823 Call Centre.
