FS's speech at Dragonair 25th anniversary livery unveiling ceremony (English only)(with photos/video)
***********************************************************

Following is the speech by the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, at the Dragonair 25th anniversary livery unveiling ceremony at Hong Kong International Airport today (June 10):

Tony (Tyler), distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,

Good afternoon to you all. It is my great pleasure to join you all today.

First and foremost, congratulations to Dragonair on your 25th anniversary.

What better way to celebrate a birthday than putting on a new outfit - or in this case, a new livery.

I am looking forward to seeing the magnificent Dragonair plane adorned with its anniversary colours and the revitalised Brand Hong Kong logo.

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone at Dragonair on the Skytrax award as Tony has mentioned. It confirms what many of us already suspected - that the world's best regional airline is flying the flag for Asia's world city.

As Tony has mentioned, we recently revitalised our Brand. This was about more than giving the flying dragon a more dynamic look; it is about spreading the word around the world that Hong Kong means business.

Promoting the Hong Kong brand around the region, and to all corners of the globe, will help raise Hong Kong's profile abroad and attract even more visitors, investment and talent to our city.

For a quarter of a century, Dragonair has been a key component in our city's international reach, and is a perfect partner for our branding campaign.

For one thing, Dragonair knows all about effective branding and great service. Dragonair shares many of the same values and attributes that make up the DNA of our city branding.

Together, we strive for excellence, we value enterprise, we crave innovation. And we thrive on connectivity, diversity and dynamism.

Dragonair is the friendly face of Hong Kong on the Mainland of China and throughout the region. The airline has become synonymous with the city, and we are delighted to have you on board for our branding campaign.

I look forward to seeing more Dragonair planes adorned with the new logo so that we can continue to spread the message far and wide that Hong Kong is the place to be.

Thank you very much and have a great afternoon.
