Unlicensed food factory in Fanling raided

     The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) raided an unlicensed food factory at Ling Shan Tsuen, Ma Sik Road, Fanling, this morning (June 9) and seized about 1,000kg of rice dumplings, large quantities of food ingredients and a batch of cooking utensils.

     A woman was arrested in the operation and is assisting with investigations.

     Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.

     An FEHD spokesman stressed that stringent enforcement action would continue to be taken against unlicensed food business to safeguard food safety and public health.

     "People should report such illegal activities through the 1823 Call Centre," he added.
