A spokesman for the Department of Health said reports about one enterovirus 71 infection and 11 hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) institutional outbreaks were received during the 24 hours ending at noon today (June 9).
This brings to 353 the cumulative total number of HFMD institutional outbreaks in 2010.
The institutional outbreaks took place in Central and Western District, Eastern District, Kowloon City, Kwun Tong, Wong Tai Sin, Sai Kung, Sha Tin, Tuen Mun and Yuen Long.
Five schools remain closed due to HFMD outbreaks.
