A spokesman for the Department of Health said reports about one enterovirus 71 infection and 18 hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) institutional outbreaks were received during the 24 hours ending at noon today (June 8).
This brings to 342 the cumulative total number of HFMD institutional outbreaks in 2010.
The institutional outbreaks took place in Central and Western District, Southern District, Eastern District, Wan Chai, Kowloon City, Kwun Tong, Yau Tsim Mong, Sham Shui Po, Sai Kung, Sha Tin and Tsuen Wan.
Five schools remain closed due to HFMD outbreaks.
