The Butterfly Estate Public Library will be relocated on Friday (June 11) to Unit No. 123-130, G/F, Tip Chui House, Butterfly Estate, Tuen Mun, offering a better and more comprehensive library service to residents in the district. The library, currently located on the ground floor of Tip Ying House, Butterfly Estate, will be closed on the same date.
The total area of the new Butterfly Estate Public Library will be increased to 464 square metres.
Other than the adult lending library, children's library, self-charging terminals, online public access catalogue and Internet/electronic resources workstations, new facilities and services of the library include a newspapers and periodicals section, an extension activities room, children's multimedia terminals and a book drop service. It also provides express check-in service during opening hours.
The adult lending library and children's library have a combined initial stock of about 50,000 items including Chinese and English books, encyclopaedia, dictionaries, directories, compact discs and CD-ROMs.
In addition, extension activities such as storytelling for children and book displays will be organised regularly to promote reading.
The Butterfly Estate Public Library opens from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 6pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays; from 1pm to 8pm on Tuesdays and Fridays; and from 9am to 1pm on Sundays and public holidays. The library is closed all day on Thursdays.
