Hongkong Post today (June 7) announced that a set of special stamps on "Characteristic Streets in Hong Kong" will be released for sale together with associated philatelic products on June 24.
This set of special stamps features six characteristic streets in Hong Kong, namely Pottinger Street, Nathan Road, Hollywood Road, Temple Street, Des Voeux Road West and Stanley Market. To Hong Kong people the snapshots on the stamps would convey a sense of nostalgia.
To depict the dynamic character of the streets, Hongkong Post will introduce two types of souvenirs which will be available for sale at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office from June 24.
The 3-D street scene diorama in a layered design captures the hustle and bustle of street life in Hong Kong and is an ideal miniature model collectible. The mobile phone strap and key chain gift set contains six silver plated dangles in the form of die-cuts of scenes from the six streets, together with a mobile phone strap and a key chain for use with the dangles. The six dangles can also be placed on the acrylic stamp frame as a standalone decoration. With its stylish design for different purposes, this gift set is a perfect gift for trendsetters.
Official first day covers at $1 each will be available at all post offices from Thursday (June 10), while the stamps and associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Shatin Central Post Office on the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from June 10 to 17.
