Special traffic and transport arrangements for public procession in Causeway Bay this Sunday

     The Transport Department (TD) today (June 4) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in Causeway Bay and Wan Chai from about 2pm this Sunday (June 6) to facilitate the holding of a public procession.

     The procession will start from Victoria Park and take the route along Sugar Street, Yee Wo Street westbound, Hennessy Road westbound, Queen's Road East flyover and the northern pavement of Queensway with its destination at Harcourt Garden.

     The special traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:

Road closures
-------------

(a) The Gloucester Road U-turn slip road between Gloucester Road southbound and northbound;
(b) Jardine's Bazaar;
(c) Tang Lung Street;
(d) The section of Canal Road East between Hennessy Road and Russell Street;
(e) The section of Gloucester Road southbound between Victoria Park Road flyover and Causeway Road (if necessary);
(f) Sugar Street;
(g) Irving Street (except for vehicles heading to the Regal Hong Kong Hotel);
(h) The section of Yee Wo Street westbound between Pennington Street and Hennessy Road;
(i) The section of Yun Ping Road between Kai Chiu Road and Pak Sha Road;
(j) Kai Chiu Road;
(k) The section of Lee Garden Road between Kai Chiu Road and Hennessy Road;
(l) The section of Hennessy Road westbound between Yee Wo Street and Lee Garden Road; and
(m) The slow lanes of Hennessy Road westbound between Lee Garden Road and Queen's Road East will be intermittently closed.

Public transport services
-------------------------

(a) 43 bus routes and one green minibus route operating along the closed roads will be temporarily diverted.  All bus stops along Gloucester Road southbound, Irving Street, Yee Wo Street westbound and Hennessy Road westbound will be intermittently suspended.  Public transport operators will arrange publicity to inform passengers of the temporary arrangements.

(b) The public light bus stand at Sugar Street and the green minibus stand at Tang Lung Street will be temporarily suspended.

Closure of carparks
-------------------

All carparks along Hennessy Road westbound may be closed at short notice if necessary.

     Members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport.  Motorists should avoid driving to the affected areas.  In case of traffic congestion, they are urged to exercise tolerance and patience, and take heed of directions of the Police in the affected areas.

     The TD and the police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures as and when necessary.  Motorists and the public should watch out for the latest traffic news broadcast via media.
