The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, and District Council (DC) chairmen and vice chairmen started their visit to Shanghai today (June 4).
Upon arrival, the delegation first visited the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Centre. The centre, with the theme "city, people, environment and development", showcases the latest planning and infrastructural developments in Shanghai.
After a visit to the Huangpu district in the afternoon, the delegation attended a dinner reception hosted by Mr Yang Xiaodu, member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Committee and Chairman of the Shanghai Chinese Overseas Friendship Association, in the evening.
Mr Tsang then watched a performance by the Hong Kong Ballet, a World Expo 2010 Shanghai China (Shanghai Expo) programme.
The delegation will continue their visit to Shanghai tomorrow. Apart from visiting the Urban Best Practices Area at Shanghai Expo, members will also tour the Yangshan Deep-water Port.
