Special traffic arrangements and crowd management for public meeting on June 4

Police will implement special traffic arrangements in the vicinity of Victoria Park and crowd management to facilitate the holding of a candle light vigil at the park on June 4 (Friday).

     The following traffic arrangements may be implemented in phases between 6pm and midnight depending on the traffic and crowd situation:

Phase I
-------

A. Road Closure

(1) Sugar Street;
(2) Great George Street (including the section from the west of Paterson Street, which will be closed at 4pm under pedestrianisation scheme);
(3) A section of westbound Kingston Street between Paterson Street and Gloucester Road;
(4) A section of Paterson Street between Kingston Street and Great George Street;
(5) A section of northbound Gloucester Road between Causeway Road and Kingston Street;
(6) Gloucester Road U-turn slip road between southbound and northbound Gloucester Road near Causeway Road; and
(7) When necessary, a section of southbound Gloucester Road between Causeway Road and westbound Gloucester Road may be closed. Southbound Tai Hang Road Flyover will then be closed simultaneously.

B. Road Diversion

     After the Phase I road closure is implemented, the following road diversion will be implemented:

(1) Traffic along southbound Paterson Street will be diverted to eastbound Kingston Street;
(2) Traffic along southbound Cleveland Street will be diverted to turn left to eastbound Kingston Street;
(3) Traffic along northbound Tai Hang Road Flyover will not be allowed to turn left to Kingston Street; and
(4) Traffic along Victoria Park Road Flyover for Tai Hang Road Flyover will be diverted to use eastbound Victoria Park Road and Wing Hing Street, King's Road and Tung Lo Wan Road for Tai Hang area.

Phase II
--------

A. Road Closure

(1) Sugar Street;
(2) Great George Street (including the section from the west of Paterson Street, which will be closed at 4pm under pedestrianisation scheme);
(3) Kingston Street;
(4) Paterson Street;
(5) Cleveland Street;
(6) Gloucester Road U-turn slip road between southbound and northbound Gloucester Road near Causeway Road;
(7) When necessary, a section of Gloucester Road between Causeway Road and westbound Gloucester Road may be closed;
(8) Tai Hang Road Flyover may be closed. Traffic along Tai Hang Road downhill will be diverted to Tung Lo Wan Road;
(9) A section of Hing Fat Street between Causeway Road and Lau Li Street may be closed, except for franchised buses and minibuses; and
(10) A section of Electric Road between Yacht Street and Hing Fat Street may be closed, except for vehicles heading for Park Tower.

Suspension of taxi stands
-------------------------

     The taxi stands at Paterson Street may be suspended when necessary.

Suspension of public light bus stands
-------------------------------------

     The public light bus stands at Paterson Street and Sugar Street may be suspended when necessary.

Suspension of parking spaces
----------------------------

     Hing Fat Street public carpark spaces will be suspended between 2pm and 11pm. Disabled parking spaces will remain open. Only emergency services vehicles will be allowed to park there.

Crowd management measures
----------------------------------
     Police will also implement crowd management measures to facilitate the holding of the vigil in the park on June 4.

     Participants should make use of public transport and enter the park from two main entrances at the east side (Hing Fat Street near MTR Tin Hau Station) and the west side (Gate No. 6 at Sugar Street and Gate No. 7 at Great George Street in Causeway Bay) of the park.

To ensure the safety of participants and other venue users, the following accessess inside the park will be closed from 5pm until the end of the event depending on the situation for emergency vehicular access.
    
(1)  The access (South Road) between the central lawn and soccer pitches no.1 to 6; and
(2)  The access (unnamed road) between the central lawn and the main tennis court.

     The latest information will be broadcast inside the park on that day. Participants should take heed of advice by the police on site.
