Winners of the Best Landscape Award for Private Property Development 2010 were announced today (May 20). With outstanding landscape design and excellent horticultural maintenance, 15 private properties received the gold awards.
In addition to the 15 gold awards, 40 merit awards were given at the prize presentation ceremony organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department to commend organisations for their efforts in greening and to enhance the green consciousness of the public.
The Best Landscape Award for Private Property Development 2010 aims to sustain the betterment of the living environment in private property and to promote excellence in greening by outstanding landscape design and horticultural maintenance.
Launched in 2000, the Best Landscape Award is organised once every two years. This year, over 300 nominated entries were received. The response was overwhelming and the standard of the nominated entries was also very high.
The nominated projects show that professionals, architects and landscape architects have added green elements to the properties in the planning and development stages of the projects. In addition to the appearance of green features, sustainability, enhancement to urban livability, and involvement of users have also been considered. Property management and maintenance professionals have also kept good care of the landscape to offer quality greening areas to the public.
Officiating guests at the ceremony, which was held at the Hong Kong Central Library Exhibition Gallery today, were the Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Mrs Betty Fung; Patron of the Institute of Horticulture (Hong Kong), Sir David Akers-Jones; Honorary President of the Institute of Horticulture (Hong Kong), Ms Choy So-yuk; President of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, Ms Anna S Y Kwong; President of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, Professor Chau Kwong-wing; Chairman of the Professional Green Building Council, Mr K S Wong; Vice President of the Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects, Mr Wong Tak-yip; and Vice President of the Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies, Mr Simon Sham.
The Best Landscape Award for Private Property Development 2010 is organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, and co-organised by the Home Affairs Department, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, the Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects, the Institute of Horticulture (Hong Kong), the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, the Professional Green Building Council, and the Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies.
The Best Landscape Award is presented in three categories. The awardees are as follows:
