A critical case of human swine influenza at Prince of Wales Hospital

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson for Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH) today (May 17) announced a newly confirmed critical case of human swine influenza (HSI):
 
     A 22-year-old female patient with good past health attended the Accident and Emergency Department of the hospital on May 12 due to fever, cough and vomiting. She was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit subsequently and positive result of HSI was confirmed the next day (May 13). Tamiflu and antibiotics were prescribed. She is now in critical condition and requires ventilation support. The hospital will continue to closely monitor her condition.
