Enforcement action to demolish illegal concrete bridge in Tai Po
**********************************************************

In response to media enquiries on an illegal concrete bridge in Tai Po today (May 14), a government spokesman said:

"The Government will take prompt enforcement action to demolish an illegal concrete bridge on government land at Shan Liu Village in Tai Po.

An illegal access was discovered in February. District Lands Office/Tai Po subsequently on May 8 erected bollards and a Government Land notice board to block the unauthorised access.

The illegal access is land-locked by private land. Nevertheless, staff of the Lands Department managed to gain access to the site to carry out necessary land control actions.

District Lands Office/Tai Po has liaised with the Tai Po District Office, and arrangements are being made to demolish the illegal bridge early next week. Demolition work is expected to be completed within one week.

Government authorities will continue to apply applicable policies and practices both in the city and rural areas throughout the territory."
