Third annual tourism exchange meeting between Hong Kong and Macao held today (with photo)

     A Hong Kong tourism delegation led by the Commissioner for Tourism, Mr Philip Yung, visited Macao today (May 5). The delegation met with the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Dr Cheong U, and the Director of the Macao Government Tourist Office, Eng Joao Manuel Costa Antunes, to exchange views on tourism issues of mutual concerns.  

     This was the third meeting arranged under the annual tourism exchange mechanism.

     The exchange meeting reviewed the tourism performance in 2009 and discussed the outlook for the second half of 2010. The two sides also explored joint efforts in the development and promotion of multi-destination itineraries comprising Hong Kong and Macao in different source markets, including emerging markets such as India and Russia.

     The delegation also attended a lunch hosted by Dr Cheong after the meeting and met with members of Macao¡¦s Tourism Development Committee and representatives of the travel industry.

     Among the representatives of the Hong Kong delegation were the Executive Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Mr Anthony Lau, and the Executive Director of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong, Mr Joseph Tung.
