The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng, visited Singapore today (May 3) to get an update of the country¡¦s private housing.
Ms Cheng visited the Urban Redevelopment Authority, Singapore's land use authority formed under the Minister for National Development, and was briefed on the Authority's work regarding the regulatory regime of first-hand private residential properties.
She also met the Minister for National Development, Mr Mah Bow-tan, and discussed with him housing issues, in particular, the regulation of private housing development in Singapore.
Ms Cheng visited show flats in four different private housing developments. Show flats are usually set up on site or on a piece of vacant land near the site in Singapore.
The Singaporean authority regulates sales of private property developments in areas like advertisements and payments in phases by buyers, whereas areas such as show flats and price lists are outside the regulatory regime.
