Applicants for new fixed-pitch hawker licences can now check on the sequence for the selection of pitches from the website of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (www.fehd.gov.hk) following an open computer sequencing exercise today (April 30).
The results and relevant information are also displayed at the offices of the FEHD's Hong Kong and Kowloon Hawkers and Markets Section, and its district environmental hygiene offices.
The FEHD invited applications for 218 on-street fixed-pitch hawker licences last month. A total of 9,510 applications had been received by the end of the three-week application period.
Upon verification of all applications, 8,519 were eligible, with 893 of them from registered assistants to hawker licensees.
A total of 991 applications were found not meeting the application requirements, mainly due to multiple applications.
Attending and witnessing the computer sequencing of priority in the hall of the Lai Chi Kok Government Offices today were eligible applicants and representatives of the hawker associations and trade groups and the Home Affairs Department.
The successful applicants will be invited in writing to attend an interview in batches to complete the licensing procedures and the pitch selection in accordance with their priority numbers drawn by computer.
All new hawker licences are expected to be issued by mid-year.
Enquiries can be made on the FEHD hotline 2392 5157.
