A total of 103 fixed penalty tickets (FPTs) and 127 summonses were issued to motorists and pedestrians who violated traffic regulations during an operation by Traffic Kowloon East yesterday (April 29).
The "Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day" was conducted between 7am and 11pm yesterday and 198 officers from Traffic Kowloon East, the District Traffic Teams of Wong Tai Sin, Sau Mau Ping and Kwun Tong, were deployed to enforce regulations at traffic accident blacksites and potential traffic accident locations in Kowloon East Region.
Another 120 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and other parking offences.
A total of 179 pedestrians and 72 drivers were verbally warned for jaywalking and other minor traffic offences.
Pamphlets and leaflets with road safety messages were also distributed to road users.
Statistics revealed that there were 464 traffic accidents with persons injured in Kowloon East Region from January to March this year.
