New submarine gas pipeline to Tuen Mun Black Point Power Station
*********************************************************

The Government intends to allow a new submarine gas pipeline to be laid from the northwest boundary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) waters to the Black Point Power Station (BPPS) owned by Castle Peak Power Company Limited in Tuen Mun within an area of about 49.1 hectares of foreshore and sea-bed.  This is for the purpose of supplying natural gas from gas export facilities in southern Guangdong Province to the BPPS.

The new gas pipeline will be installed in a trench of around five kilometres in length within HKSAR waters.  The new pipeline will form a part of a longer pipeline connecting the BPPS with new gas export facilities in the southern part of Guangdong Province.

The work is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2011 and to be completed by the end of 2012.

The extent of the area affected is described in a notice published in the Government Gazette today (April 30).

The notice together with its related plan No. TMM3131 can be seen on notice boards posted near the site.  The plan can be seen and purchased on order at the Lands Department Survey and Mapping Office, 23rd Floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point. It can also be viewed at the Tuen Mun District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, 2nd floor, Tuen Mun Government Offices, 1 Tuen Hi Road, Tuen Mun, and on the Lands Department website (www.landsd.gov.hk) under Government Notices.

Any person who considers that he or she has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and sea-bed involved may submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20th floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, by June 30.
