Future version of World Weather Information Service website launched today

     The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) today (April 29) announced the launch of the future version of the World Weather Information Service (WWIS) website for official city weather forecasts under the auspices of the World Meteorological Organisation.

     Developed by the HKO, the brand-new future version gives Internet users more intuitive and flexible access to the latest official weather forecasts from 124 countries and territories in the world.  It features a versatile "fly-over" function to any part of the world. Users can obtain the latest weather forecast for any of the 1,300 cities around the world with a simple click.

     Director of the Hong Kong Observatory Dr Lee Boon-ying said, "As international travel becomes more frequent these days, people will find it very easy to access weather information of any of the cities they plan to visit.  The new design truly provides weather information without borders."

     The WWIS website (http://worldweather.wmo.int) is the world's first and only website for official city forecasts.  The public are welcome to access the future version of WWIS website (http://future.worldweather.wmo.int) to obtain the latest weather forecasts from countries and territories around the world.
