Customs seizes three kilogrammes of cocaine at airport (with photo)

     Customs officers arrested an incoming woman passenger yesterday (April 27) at the Hong Kong International Airport and seized some three kilogrammes of cocaine with an estimated market value of about $2.7 million.

     Yesterday evening, Customs officers at the airport intercepted a woman who arrived from Cameroon via Ethiopia for baggage examination. Customs officers found two slabs of cocaine weighing about three kilogrammes in total concealed inside a false compartment of her suitcase.

     The 31-year-old woman, who claimed to be a businesswoman, will be charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Court tomorrow (April 29).

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence.  The maximum penalty is up to life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
