Cocaine worth $337 million seized in Fanling

     Police have arrested eight persons and seized 372kg of suspected cocaine worth about $337 million, the largest single seizure with arrests of its kind in Police record.

     Police received a missing person report on April 23. Upon investigation, Police searched a village house in Tai PO Tin Village yesterday (April 25) and discovered 372 kilograms of cocaine inside the house. The drugs seized could fetch about $337 million if sold in retail market.

     Police also arrested eight persons, including four men and four women, aged between 22 and 84, in connection of the case.

     Police are still searching for the missing person and investigation by Narcotic Bureau and Crime Headquarters of New Territories South are continuing.

     Police have charged one of the arrested persons, a 52-year-old man, with trafficking in dangerous drugs tonight. He will appear in Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (April 27). Two of the arrested persons, an 84-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman, have been released on police bail; and the remaining two men and three women, aged between 22 and 47, are still being detained for further investigation.
