The Transport Department (TD) today (April 22) reminded people that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in Wan Chai North tomorrow (April 23) to facilitate the move-out activities of exhibitions at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
The special traffic and transport arrangements include:
Road closure
------------
(I) From 3pm to 7pm
Expo Drive East and the section of Expo Drive west of HKCEC Phase II will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic (except buses and those with valid entry labels issued by the HKCEC).
(II) From 7pm to 11pm
Expo Drive East and the section of Expo Drive west of HKCEC Phase II will be temporarily closed to all goods vehicles (except those with valid entry labels issued by the HKCEC).
Suspension of Taxi stand
------------------------
The taxi stand at Expo Drive East will be suspended from 3pm to 7pm.
In addition, a special event will be held at the HKCEC Phase I from 2.30pm to 6pm on the same day.
The TD anticipates that many vehicles will be going to or leaving the HKCEC in batches tomorrow afternoon. The traffic in Wan Chai North will be very busy and congested. Members of the public who plan to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible. Motorists should avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists are urged to exercise tolerance and patience, and take heed of directions from the Police.
The TD and the police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures as and when necessary. Motorists and the public should watch out for the latest traffic news broadcast on the media.
Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available at the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk). For further queries, please contact the 1823 Call Centre (Tel: 1823).
