The Hospital Authority (HA) today (21 April) announces its Outstanding Staff and Teams Award for 2010, with seven staff members and eight healthcare teams from different disciplines of public hospitals and HA Head Office are awarded (List of awardees is appended). Their dedication and outstanding performance were highly commended for delivery of quality patient-centred care and enhancing team spirit and effectiveness of the organisation.
Since its introduction in 1993, Hospital Authority has been organising this Award yearly as corporate-wide staff recognition program to recognise the significant contributions made by staff members and teams.
In its 17th year of running this year, Mr Peter Lo, Chairman of HA Human Resources Committee said at the announcement ceremony, "The Panel would like to thank all those who participated not only for their enthusiasm and dedication, but also for offering many direct views on aspects of their work."
HA Chief Executive, Mr Shane Solomon, congratulates the crowned staff and team at the ceremony. Mr Solomon said, "The staff honoured today have been chosen for their accomplishments and their contributions to the community. I offer my congratulations to each of you and the Hospital Authority is proud to have you. Patients and public are the ultimate beneficiary of what you all did. Let's give a big round applause to our outstanding staffs and teams."
The Selection Panel was chaired by Mr Peter Lo, and comprising Mr Shane Solomon, Ms Queenie Leung, HA Broad Member; Dr Fung Hong, New Territories East Cluster Chief Executive; Mr David Rossiter, HA Head of Human Resources; and a past award winner Ms Sandy Ho, Hospital Manager (Patient Relations), Kwong Wah Hospital.
The awardees were selected from among 58 nominations from various divisions of public hospitals and HA Head Office. The selection criteria include:
a. People-centered care
b. Professional service
c. Committed staff
d. Team work
The Award Presentation Ceremony of the Outstanding Staff and Teams Award 2010 will be held at the closing ceremony of HA Convention on 11 May 2010.
