The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (April 16) obtained in the District Court two orders for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $812,000 against two employers.
The District Court today issued judgments against the two employers, Goldway (HK) Enterprises Limited and Lau Ming Transportation Co Ltd. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA the sums of $409,706.38 and $402,413.52, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to three and 29 employees of the defendants respectively.
The amounts awarded at the District Court will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court also ordered the defendants each to pay costs of $930.
