SEN continues duty visit to Malaysia (with photos)

     The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, today (April 13) continued his duty visit to Malaysia and visited some remarkable geosites in Langkawi Geopark.

     In the morning, Mr Yau joined a tour to see the peculiar rock formations and unique landscapes in the Kilim Geoforest Park in Langkawi.
 
     Noting that Hong Kong National Geopark also featured natural beauty and heritage value that attracted the interest of both geologists and members of the public, Mr Yau said the successful experience of Malaysian authorities in conserving the natural environment for tourism purposes would be very useful to Hong Kong.

     Mr Yau said the Government would continue to work in partnership with every quarter of the community to raise public awareness of the geo-treasures of Hong Kong, as well as the importance of conserving these valuable assets as part of green living to enhance the quality of life.

     In the afternoon, Mr Yau departed for Singapore where he will meet  local officials and community leaders to learn more about Singapore's green efforts.
