Following is the transcript of remarks (English portion) made by the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng, at a media stand-up session after visiting a number of show flats today (April 12):
We have been looking around show flats. There are three major directions that our work is in progress:
1. We think there is a need to enhance transparency and accuracy of information provided at the show flat, including whether the absence of certain external walls or partition walls may lead to prospectus buyers having a wrong concept of the space inside the flat;
2. The second agenda that we have is to provide accurate information as to the address and the particular region that the flats in question are located;
3. The third one concerns transparency regarding transaction. We are exploring to require that connected transactions involving the senior executives of developers should be disclosed.
These are amongst the work we are now pursuing with REDA (Real Estate Developers Association).
Reporter: What are the major problems you found in the flats you observed today?
Secretary for Transport and Housing: I think different show flats all have their pluses and minuses. Vis-a-vis our requirements, I think some of them do not show their external walls, some have done away with a lot of partition walls. That¡¦s why in terms of the spatial concept, I think, you know, prospective buyers would have problems with having a more accurate feel of the size of the flats.
