Princess Margaret Hospital panel investigating baby injury incident announced

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     Regarding the injury of a three-month-old inpatient, the spokesperson of Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) made the following announcement today (April 12):

     The Kowloon West Cluster is deeply concerned about the incident. An investigation panel has been set up to investigate the incident, to recommend improvement measures to prevent a recurrence and any other follow-up action, where appropriate.

Composition of the investigation panel is as follows:

Chairman:  Dr Li Chi Kong
           Chief of Service & Consultant
           Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine
           Prince of Wales Hospital

Members:   Mr Chow Yick Hay
           Member of Hospital Governing Committee
           Kwai Chung & Princess Margaret Hospitals

           Ms Luk Sau Kuen
           Department Operations Manager
           Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine
           Queen Elizabeth Hospital

           Ms Chung Wai Ching
           Cluster Manager
           Quality and Safety
           Kowloon West

           Ms Hon Kam Yin
           Deputy Ward Manager
           Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine
           Princess Margaret Hospital

     The investigation panel will deliver its findings and recommendations as soon as possible and within six weeks at the latest. The investigation report will be submitted to the Kowloon West Cluster and the Hospital Authority Head Office, and will be explained to the patient's family. Meanwhile, the nurse concerned will be temporarily transferred to another ward when she returns to work.
