Yuen Long congee shop ordered to suspend business
*************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a congee shop in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant (µo°O¸z¯»µ°«~), at Shop No.1, ground floor, Wan Hing Building, junction of Yau San Street and Hop Yick Road, Yuen Long Town Lot 253, was ordered to suspend business from today (April 9) to April 22.

"Last July and in January this year, there were two convictions in respect of unauthorised extension of food business recorded against the food premises," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $13,000 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension."

He said the food premises also had two convictions in May 2008 and last March for the same offence.

"A total fine of $13,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days last July," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
