The following is issued on behalf of the Environmental Campaign Committee:

Chairman of the ECC, Mr Joseph Lee, said today (April 8), "Global warming and climate change are causing fateful melting of polar glaciers and serious environmental impact on Earth. Concerted efforts are urgently needed to combat climate change. In response to the challenge, the ECC, the Environmental Protection Department, the Polar Museum Foundation, the Hong Kong Observatory and the Hong Kong Science Museum jointly organise the 'Global Warming and Climate Variation' Seminar Series."

They will share their knowledge and insights into climate change with the participants. The exhibition will also show a large number of photos taken by Dr Lee during her polar expeditions to illustrate the impact of climate change at the poles.

The event will be held from 3.30pm to 5.30pm on April 10 at Chiang Chen Studio Theatre, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. It will be conducted in Cantonese and admission is free. Seats will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. For enquiries, please call 2595 8182 or visit the ECC website: www.ecc.org.hk .
