CE to attend Signing Ceremony of Framework Agreement on Hong Kong/Guangdong Co-operation in Beijing and Boao Forum annual conference in Hainan

     The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, will visit Beijing on April 6 and 7 to attend the signing ceremony of the Framework Agreement on Hong Kong/Guangdong Co-operation.  He will also visit Hainan from April 9 to 10 to attend the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2010.

     The Framework Agreement is the first such agreement signed between Hong Kong and Guangdong which is endorsed by the State Council.  It translates the macro strategies on deepening Hong Kong / Guangdong cooperation laid down in the ˇ§Outline of the Plan for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Deltaˇ¨ into concrete policies and measures, laying a foundation for seeking to incorporate the relevant content of the agreement into the National 12th Five-Year Plan.

     Mr Tsang and the Governor of Guangdong Province, Mr Huang Huahua, will sign the Framework Agreement on April 7 at the Great Hall of the People, to be witnessed by State Leaders.

     Other HKSAR officials attending the signing ceremony include the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang; the Secretary for Justice, Mr Wong Yan Lung, SC; the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam; the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan; the Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau; the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng; the Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Mr Raymond Tam; and others.

     The theme of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2010 is "Green Recovery: Asiaˇ¦s Realistic Choice for Sustainable Growth". Government officials accompanying Mr Tsang at the conference include the Deputy Private Secretary to the Chief Executive, Mr Kevin Choi; and the Assistant Director (Media), Mr Vic Yau.

     During Mr Tsang's absence, the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, will be Acting Chief Executive from April 6 to 7, and the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, will be Acting Chief Executive from April 9 to 10.
