Cycle tracks-section from Tuen Mun to Sheung Shui gazetted

     The Government published a notice in the Gazette today (April 1) on works on cycle tracks connecting North West New Territories with North East New Territories - section from Tuen Mun to Sheung Shui. The proposed works in San Tin are required to provide a continuous cycle track network connecting Tuen Mun, Tin Shui Wai, Yuen Long, Sheung Shui/Fanling, Tai Po and Sha Tin.

     The proposed works include construction of sections of cycle tracks of approximately 2.4 kilometres long from the western end of San Tin Tsuen Road to Pak Shek Au Interchange which run along San Tin Highway, Castle Peak Road - Chau Tau and Fanling Highway, and modification of the associated roads and footpaths; construction of sections of footpaths, bridges, pedestrian and cycle subway and ramps, and cycle parking spaces; shifting part of Castle Peak Road - Chau Tau northward; permanent/temporary closure, demolition and reconstruction of sections of the existing road and footpaths and bus lay-by; modification of junction layout and provision of signal-controlled pedestrian crossing at the junction of Castle Peak Road - Chau Tau and the eastern access road of Chau Tau Tsuen; and ancillary works including water, drainage, sewerage, geotechnical and landscaping works, construction of retaining structures, and installation of traffic aids.

     The plans and scheme are available for public inspection at the following places during office hours:

(i) Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, Ground Floor, The Center, 99 Queen's Road Central;
(ii) Yuen Long District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Ground Floor, Yuen Long District Office Building, 269 Castle Peak Road, Yuen Long; and
(iii) District Lands Office, Yuen Long, 9th Floor, Yuen Long Government Offices, 2 Kiu Lok Square, Yuen Long.

     Any person who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16/F, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, on or before May 31, 2010.
