Local dance group Muse Motion and choreographer Allen Lam will perform the latest production "Opening Doors With A New Set Of Keys" to reveal enchanting movement and mind-blowing style in April and May.
The shows will feature choreographer and dancer Allen Lam and dancers Rico Cheung, Ayako Fujioka, Icey Lam, Francis Leung, Eriko Ochiai and Mike Wang.
Feel unconnected to music and dance? Find contemporary dance queer? Allen Lam blends contemporary dance with ballet, latin dance, flamenco and chinese dance, with respect for each tradition. The show is set to Nuevo tango music by Piazzolla (1921-1992), and is inspired by the lyrics of "Rendezvous at Lantern Festival night" by Xin Qi-ji (1140-1107), a poet of the Song Dynasty. There are many surprises and splendours in the performances that will open up the audience's instincts to dramatic expressions in dance.
Allen Lam is a classically trained dancer and choreographer and is well known for exploring different styles in the world of dance. Balancing a career in New York City and Hong Kong, he has built a lifetime portfolio of collaboration projects using the great spectrum of dance disciplines. From classical ballet and flamenco to latin dance and traditional chinese dance, he continues to be fascinated by the aesthetics of each. "Opening Doors with a New Set of Keys"is a story about the passion of the classical form as it struggles with the free spirit of creation, and the result will always be something daring and new.
