T-shirts designed by disabled persons on display
************************************************

About 200 specially designed T-shirts, which show the talents of persons with disabilities (PWDs) as well as their contributions to Hong Kong's creativity industry, will be displayed at the "Let Them Shine T-shirt Design Exhibition" to be held at the Hong Kong Central Library from tomorrow (March 29).

All the T-shirts were entries to last year's "Let Them Shine T-shirt Design Competition" jointly organised by the Support the Employment of People with Disabilities Limited (SEPD) managed by the Marketing Consultancy Office (Rehabilitation) of the Social Welfare Department and Quiksilver, a global fashion retailer.

The aim of the exhibition is to show public the originality of the PWDs and give them an opportunity to show their abilities. This can be seen from the creativity and ingenuity of the T-shirt designs.

The exhibition also marks a new leaf in the collaboration between the commercial sector and non-governmental organisations. Following the enthusiastic participation by a number of rehabilitation organisations in the design competition, Quiksilver chose the winning designs for the production of T-shirts under the brand "Let Them Shine". The T-shirts were put on sale at Quiksilver outlets in March in an important step to support versatile rehabilitation.

The "Let Them Shine T-shirt Design Exhibition" will be held between March 29 and April 1 at Pavilion 1, Hong Kong Central Library, 66 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay. Admission is free. The opening hours of the exhibition are as follows:

March 29 (Monday)       3pm - 8pm
March 30 (Tuesday)     10am - 8pm
March 31 (Wednesday)   10am - 8pm
April 1 (Thursday)     10am - 3pm

"Let them Shine" is a marketing programme carried out by the Marketing Consultancy Office (Rehabilitation) to demonstrate the capabilities of PWDs to the public. Pop singer Gigi Leung was appointed the "Let Them Shine Ambassador" and a theme song "Let Them Shine" was written and sung by her. For more details about the capabilities of PWDs, please visit the SEPD website at www.mcor.swd.gov.hk .
