Flower show at Victoria Park closes tomorrow (with photos)

     The Hong Kong Flower Show 2010 at Victoria Park will close at 9pm tomorrow (March 28) and members of the public who wish to see the tens of thousands of exotic flowers at the annual flower show should not miss the last chance.

     More than 350,000 flowers, among which are over 50,000 pots of theme flower Cineraria of some 50 cultivars are on display. About 200 organisations from 21 countries take part in showcasing exquisite potted plants, beautiful floral arrangements and gorgeous landscape displays.

     A series of fringe activities are arranged to complement the flower show. They include music and dance performances, floral art demonstrations, green talks and fun games. Among them was a student drawing competition held last week and its prize presentation ceremony was held today (March 27).

     The competition was conducted in four categories. Winning entries of champion, 1st and 2nd runner-up and highly commended of each category are now on display at the flower show showground at Victoria Park. Champion winners are as follows:

     Activities at the park's lawn tomorrow (March 28):

1) 10am to 5.30pm
Story-telling, magic workshop, balloon-twisting workshop, parachute, inflatable castle, sports games play-in, art-and-craft stalls, games stalls, mascots parade

2) 2pm to 5.30pm
Sketching

3) 10am to 1pm, and 2pm to 5pm
Greening promotional talks

4) 11am to 11.15am
Marching band performance

     Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Hong Kong Flower Show 2010 is open from 9am to 9pm until Sunday (March 28).

     Admission tickets are available at the entrance to the showground at Victoria Park.

     Admission for adults is $14. Children aged between 4 and 14, students, senior citizens aged 60 or above, persons with disabilities and minder (each person can enjoy the concessionary rate with one minder only) pay half price.
