The following is issued on behalf of the Housing Authority:
The Housing Authority's (HA) Subsidised Housing Committee (SHC) today (March 26) discussed the findings of the review of Waiting List (WL) income and asset limits for 2010/11 and endorsed the income and asset limits for respective household sizes as set out in the table attached.
Based on the established review mechanism with income limits rounded to the nearest 10 as proposed by members, the income and asset limits for 2010/11 will be increased by an average of 1.2% and 2.5% respectively. For four-person households, the income limit will increase from $15,800 to $16,070 and the asset limit will go up from $375,000 to $384,000. The SHC also endorsed the decision that in future reviews, the same rounding rule will apply to the determination of WL income limits for all household sizes.
"The new set of income and asset limits will take effect on April 1, 2010. It is estimated that some 119,000 non-owner occupied households in the private sector will be eligible for public rental housing," an HA spokesman said.
