Senior appointments in Police Force

Approval has been given for the appointment of Mr Lee Ka-chiu as Deputy Commissioner of Police with effect from March 8, 2010, upon the retirement of Deputy Commissioner (Operations), Mr Yam Tat-wing.

Mr Lee will take up the post of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Management) while Mr Tsang Wai-hung will assume the post of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) on the same date.

Four other senior promotions were also announced. Mr Hung Hak-wai and Mr Tang How-kong will be promoted to Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, whilst Mr Kevin Michael Woods and Mr Fan Sik-ming will be promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police.

Brief biographical notes on Mr Lee Ka-chiu are set out below:

Mr Lee, 53 years old, joined the Hong Kong Police as an Inspector in 1977. He was promoted to Superintendent in 1989, Chief Superintendent in 1997, Assistant Commissioner in 2003 and Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police in 2007. He is currently the Director of Crime and Security. He has worked in a variety of fields in the Force.
