TD's response on temporary traffic arrangements for the construction of the Hong Kong Section of the XRL project
********************************************************

In response to press enquiries on the temporary traffic arrangements to facilitate the construction works of the Hong Kong Section of Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link ("the XRL project"), a spokesman for the Transport Department(TD) said today (March 4) that to facilitate the commencement of major civil engineering works of the Hong Kong Section of the XRL project this year, appropriate temporary traffic relief measures, including the building of temporary roads to provide alternate routings, would be implemented to ensure smooth traffic circulation of the West Kowloon District. On public transport services, more than 30 franchised bus routes and green minibus routes operating in the vicinity would have to be diverted. The TD and the Police will, in collaboration with Mass Transit Railway Corporation, work out suitable arrangements to reduce the impact on public transport services to the minimal. The temporary traffic relief measures and the change in public transport services are still in consultation stage. These arrangements would be finalised after views have been collected.
