The spokesperson of Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) made the following announcement today (February 23) regarding the death of a human swine influenza (HSI) patient:
A 51-year-old male patient with terminal stage of lung cancer attended the Accident and Emergency Department of TMH on February 16 due to fever and cough. Positive result of HSI was confirmed on February 17 and he was transferred to the isolation ward for treatment and was prescribed with Tamiflu and antibiotics.
The patient's condition continued to deteriorate and he succumbed today (February 23). The hospital would like to express condolences to the patient's family.
The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection.
