Police today (February 21) appealed for information about a traffic accident in Sham Shui Po on February 7 in which a 59-year-old woman was killed.
About 1pm on February 7, a medium goods vehicle driven by a 59-year-old man was travelling along Tai Po Road downhill towards Mong Kok. When approaching the junction with Shek Kip Mei Street, the vehicle reportedly lost control and ran onto the pavement after hitting the railing. The driver sustained minor injuries while a 59-year-old female passenger fell out from the vehicle. Five pedestrians, aged from 36 to 66, were also injured.
The 59-year-old female passenger was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital while the other five injured persons and the driver were sent to Caritas Medical Centre for medical treatments. The female passenger was subsequently certified dead at 5.51pm on February 10.
The medium goods vehicle driver was arrested for dangerous driving. He was released on bail pending for further enquiries. Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West are under way.
