The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (February 19) obtained in the District Court two orders for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $458,000 against an employer.
The District Court today issued judgments against the employer, Goodreach Garment Limited. The defendant was ordered to pay the MPFA the sums of $117,496.15 and $340,887.06, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 35 and 32 employees of the defendant.
The amount awarded at the District Court will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court ordered the defendant to pay costs of $930 for each judgment, totalling $1,860.
