A critical case of human swine influenza patient at PMH

The following press release is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson for Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) today (February 13) made the following announcement regarding a newly confirmed critical human swine influenza case¡G

     A 53-year-old male patient with diabetes and end-stage renal failure attended the Accident & Emergency Department of PMH on February 11 due to fever and pneumonia syndrome. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit on February 12. The test for human swine influenza was confirmed positive today. The patient was prescribed with Tamiflu and antibiotics. He is now in critical condition and requires ventilation support. The hospital is closely monitoring his condition.
