Castle Peak Hospital updates on cases of Rotavirus

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     Regarding a male ward of Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) in which some patients had confirmed infection of Rotavirus, the hospital spokesperson announced the following update today (February 8):

     Four more patients (aged 51 to 70) in the ward had presented with diarrhea symptoms. Appropriate tests had been arranged for the patients. The test results of two patients were positive to Rotavirus. The patients are being treated under isolation and in stable condition.

     Admission to the ward has been suspended. Restricted visiting to and discharge from the ward is imposed. Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been stepped up. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.

     The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
