Cycling enthusiasts and members of the public are welcome to join the "Sha Tin Bike Tour Promotion Day" at the Hong Kong Science Park in Sha Tin from 1pm to 4.30pm this Sunday (February 7) where stage performances, games stalls and guided tours promise a fun-filled day.
Jointly organised by the Sha Tin District Office and Sha Tin District Council, the event is a highlight event of the "Sha Tin Bike Festival 2009" to promote cycling tourism in Sha Tin. Performances including a lion dance, folk dance, African drums, live band and rope skipping will be featured. Visitors can try out new style bikes on display, and win gifts and prizes at the games stalls and quizzes.
Don't miss the chance to join the guided tours of the park and visit landmarks including the lakeside of Hong Kong Science Park Phase 2 (also known as the "Golden Egg"), or obtain tickets to visit the Centre for Creative Science and Technology, and the Hong Kong RFID Centre. Visitors can enhance their knowledge of supply chains, weather measurement, energy and circuitry through innovative and interactive exhibits as well as try their hand in a shadow experiment and a leaf bookmark production workshop.
Admission is free. Games coupons and tickets for the guided tours will be distributed at the venue. Free shuttle bus service will be provided from 12.30pm to 5pm at the University MTR Station and Exit B (Pai Tau Street) of Sha Tin MTR Station. The buses will depart every 10 minutes and 15 minutes respectively.
Since the Sha Tin Bike Festival 2009 began last November, a series of activities including a bike carnival, a photo competition and a bike fun day have been held. A cycling map and shopping coupons were also published by the Sha Tin District Council to help promote cycling tourism in the district.
