As one of the nine core events of Entertainment Expo Hong Kong 2010, the seventh Digital Entertainment Leadership Forum (DELF), organised by Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited (Cyberport), will be held on March 23 (Tuesday). With the theme "Seeing 2020: The Next Wave of Digital Creativity", DELF 2010 links up Hong Kong's digital creativity with the global digital content industry.
This year's forum will explore the factors and forces that will influence the shape and future of digital content and media entertainment over the next 10 years, and what entrepreneurs and businesses in the creative industries can do to sustain their success and business growth through the transforming waves of digital media.
During the first decade of the 21st century, there were major changes in how digital media content was developed, experienced and distributed. As Hong Kong's unique creative digital community with a public mission, in particular, to promote creative digital media and entertainment, Cyberport takes this opportunity to show the local digital entertainment industry the inevitable changes and continual advancements over the next decade.
"We believe that DELF can offer the local community and creative industries professionals from all over the world a valuable opportunity to appreciate world-class creativity. We hope that DELF 2010 will be able to provide more insights for Hong Kong's digital entertainment and digital media practitioners, and make Hong Kong an exemplar and globally successful centre for creative innovations in the industry," Chief Operating Officer of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, Mr Mark O. Clift said.
Cyberport has invited world-class creative industry leaders to DELF 2010 to share their expertise, experience and insights on the upcoming trends in the global digital entertainment/media market. Another keynote speaker is co-founder and general partner of VanEdge Capital, Glenn Entis, who is also a veteran and pioneer of computer graphics and digital media. Having worked with Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg as well as co-produced hit films such as "Antz", "Shrek" and "Madagascar", Glenn will talk about how to ride the waves of digital innovation. Founder and President of Pacific Interface, Inc. and co-founder of CineGrid, Laurin Herr, will be the third keynote speaker.
Other notable speakers include CEO of Xigi Inc, Gary Bolles; Senior Designer of LucasArts, Joe Ching; founder and Executive Director of California Film Institute, Mark Fishkin; CEO of Anshe Chung Studios Ltd, Guntram Graef; founder and CEO of International Digital Entertainment Agency (IDEA), Sean Kauppinen; and CEO of Ring World Networks, Robert May.
In addition to DELF 2010, Weta and Cyberport will jointly present the "Dr Grordbort's Exceptional Exhibition" at Cyberport in March, showcasing exhibits created by well-known lead designer and sculptor of Weta Workshop, Greg Broadmore. Greg was the lead conceptual designer on the film "District 9" and has also worked on "King Kong", "The Chronicles of Narnia" and "I, Robot". The exhibition will feature a line of art collectibles including 1:1 scale ray gun props and fine art paintings in the fictional universe of Dr Grordbort.
