HAD offers help to people affected by building collapse

     The Home Affairs Department (HAD) is making every effort to help people affected by the building collapse in Ma Tau Wai Road today (January 29) and will provide all practical assistance to victims and their families.   

     HAD has opened two temporary shelters with daily necessities - Holy Carpenter Church Community Centre and Henry G. Leong Yaumatei Community Centre ¡V for people in need.

     As at 7 pm today, a total of 37 people sought help from the Kowloon City District Office and 34 people sought relief at the shelters.

     A spokesman for HAD said, "The District Office will help those in need apply for emergency relief, including financial assistance under the General Chinese Charities Fund."
