An attempted suicide case in Ma On Shan reclassified as suspected homicide

     Police reclassified an attempted suicide case in Ma On Shan on January 25 as suspected homicide yesterday (January 28).

     About 2.40am on January 25, Police received a report that a 22-year-old man had attempted to commit suicide outside Yiu On Shopping Centre in Ma On Shan. He was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital in conscious state but was subsequently certified dead at 5.30pm on January 27.

     Police received a report on the same day (January 27) that the deceased was suspected to have been assaulted earlier. After initial investigations, Police arrested five males, aged between 16 and 20, and a 37-year-old female in Sha Tin district on January 27 and 28 suspected to be in connection with the case. All of them are being detained for enquiries.

     A post-mortem examination will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of the death.

     Active investigations by District Crime Squad of Sha Tin are under way.

     Police urged anyone who saw the incident or who has any information to offer to contact the investigating officers on 2640 5358.
